Strong revenue performance in Q1FY23 resulted in its highest ever quarterly revenue of INR 13,018 crore, an increase of 310.7% over the same period last year.


IndiGo reported INR 1,064 Cr Net Loss in Q1FY23

India's leading airline, IndiGo, announced a net loss of INR 1,064 crore for the quarter ended June 2022. However, the carrier has halved its losses, which stood at INR 3,174 crore for the quarter ended June 2021.IndiGo attributed the losses to a depreciating rupee and higher fuel prices. According to the airline, fuel prices increased by 95.5% for the reported quarter. However, a strong revenue performance in Q1FY23 resulted in its highest ever quarterly revenue of INR 13,018 crore, an increase of 310.7% over the same period last year. The airline reported a 222% increase in passenger numbers and said its capacity had increased by 145% over the same period.IndiGo's CEO, Ronojoy Dutta, said, 'Our revenue performance this quarter was impressive. We reported the highest ever revenue generated by the company and thereby produced profits at an operational level. 'However, cost pressures on fuel and foreign exchange prevented us from translating this strong revenue performance into net profitability. While our financial performance in the second quarter will be challenged by weak seasonality, the long-term revenue trend remains strong,' he said.According to the airline, its Q2FY23, the capacity in terms of Available Seat KM (ASK) is expected to increase by around 70-80% compared to the second quarter of the fiscal year 2022. Its total debt, including capitalised operating lease liability, stands at INR 39,277 crore.IndiGo's fleet as of June 30 2022, stood at 281 aircraft, including 35 A320 CEOs, 146 A320 NEOs, 65 A321 NEOs and 35 ATRs. This is an increase of six aircraft over the preceding quarter.At its peak, the airline operated 1,667 daily flights during the quarter, including non-scheduled flights, providing scheduled services to 73 domestic and 20 international destinations.
