The Indian Navy has taken delivery of its 11th P-8I (India) Long-Range Maritime Reconnaissance (LRMR) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft. Boeing has now delivered three P-8Is out of four ordered by the Indian Navy in 2016.
The Indian Navy inducted its first P-8I in 2013, and the entire fleet has crossed 30,000 flight hours since then. Boeing’s integrated logistics support has enabled a high state of fleet readiness at the lowest possible cost, and it also supports the Navy’s growing P-8I fleet with the training of flight crews, providing spare parts, ground support equipment and field-service representatives support.
As part of a training-and-support package contract signed in 2019, Boeing is also building a Training Support & Data Handling (TSDH) Centre at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, in Tamil Nadu, and a secondary centre at the Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology, Kochi.
Boeing has also set up a joint venture for the manufacture of AH-64 Apache helicopter fuselages in India. The company’s annual sourcing from India stands at approximately $1 billion, with the India supply chain featuring more than 275 partners and employing more than 7,000 people.
