India is set to witness over INR 2,000 crore in investment opportunities in the energy storage, electric vehicle (EV), and green hydrogen sectors during the India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2024. The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) will host this annual flagship international event from July 1 to July 5, 2024, in New Delhi, providing a platform for multiple factory and Gigafactory announcements that will support India's mission to become a global manufacturing hub.
The IESW 2024, an International Conference and Exhibition, is expected to attract participation from over 150 key partners and exhibitors, and more than 1,000 companies. During a press conference, IESA highlighted the anticipated investments and announced new factory developments that will further India’s status as a global leader in energy storage and clean technology.
IESW 2024 will serve as the launchpad for several new products, including a 20 ft Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), specialised solvent extractant chemicals for cobalt recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries, and isothermal air compression technology for long-duration energy storage.
The event is also expected to see the signing of over five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and partnership deals, including a significant MoU between IESA and Powering Australia. Three key knowledge papers on battery-grade graphite, raw materials availability, and mobility electrification in India will be unveiled by government officials during the event.
The event has garnered the confirmation of participation from 10+ central ministries and bodies, including the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Power (MoP), Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), and NITI Aayog. Additionally, international participation will include country partners like Australia, Norway, and Finland, with the Government of Western Australia as the Global State Partner.
The IESW 2024 will feature over 10 parallel sessions organised by various partners, including the Long Duration Energy Storage Council, Indo-German Energy Forum, and the International Solar Alliance. The event will also host 50+ start-ups, 10+ incubation centres, and leading investors as part of its Start-Up Day programme and Founders Roundtable.
A highlight of the event will be the Women in Energy Forum, co-hosted with the German Energy Forum, which will see the participation of over 200 women leaders from the energy storage, electric mobility, and green hydrogen sectors.
