India Key Market For Mercedes-Benz In 2024 mobility outlook

Mercedes-Benz India has been on a constant growth path set to become the most sold luxury vehicle brand in the country. With the highest ever production done by the company in 2023, there will be more than 12 new launches in 2024, with 3 new EVs to be sold in the Indian market from their global portfolio.

Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India addressed the media at the company’s annual press conference where he mentioned that they have more than 80,000 customers across the country. Out of the 17,408 deliveries made in 2023, 4% have been BEVs which have shown a 3X growth. These BEVs are also supported by 140 chargers making it the most by any luxury brand.

Expanding plans for 2024, Mercedes-Benz India will be adding 20 new workshops and 10 new retail outlets across mini-metros this year. These will allow customers to avail service or trouble shooting requests handled in about 2 hours. Further, more software upgrades have been planned for supporting vehicles.

The updated GLS has also been launched with more refinements and added features, some even being carried over from the Maybach line. The GLS 450 4MATIC has been priced at INR 1.32 Cr, and the GLS 450d 4MATIC will set you back INR 1.37 Cr (all prices ex-showroom). Also, the annual service charge of INR 85,000 has been priced aggressively against other manufacturers.

More updates come from Evren Cakabey, ED & CFO at Mercedes-Benz India where she mentioned other people-centric updates. The brand will following the policy of hiring women as 50% of the total workforce, which is also supported by hybrid work culture and leave policies. More than 4,000 women will be educated under the Green Transformation Project and Bertha Benz Scholarship program. She also stated that the brand’s attention will be focussed on road safety in India as the fatality rate is alarming high.
