The leading developer and manufacturer of lubrication-free, high-performance polymer motion plastics, igus is presenting its motion plastics products and innovations on six trending topics: sustainability, alternative drives, aerodynamics, value engineering, autonomous and bicycle.

Complementing IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich, the industry and plastics specialist provides insights into how lubrication-free polymer solutions can contribute to sustainability. For instance, plain bearings, linear guides and energy chains made of polymers reduce lubricant, fuel consumption and weight. Furthermore, the company is showing how plain polymer bearings can significantly reduce costs in a presentation on alternative drives.

A livestream on aerodynamicsdeals with corrosion at bearing points in hinges. The experts in the slot on value engineering present the short-term services of igus for rapid development and product optimisation. As autonomous driving also requires design creativity from developers, the company is showing how to guide complicated moving cables reliably. But cars are not the only mobility option in which polymer solutions are advantageous. According to the company, polymer bearings have a long service life despite contact with dirt and water in the increasingly popular bicycle, with or without battery power. Its bicycle experts are demonstrating a few examples of weight and lubrication reduction.

The six presentations are held live from the trade show stand in Cologne, the company said.
