Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced its ambitious plan to set up nearly 600 public EV fast charging stations across India over the next seven years, with 50 stations operational by December 2024.

Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning, HMIL, stated that the robust growth of the EV market by 2030 necessitates a strong infrastructure to address customer apprehensions regarding long-distance commutes. Leveraging Hyundai Motor Corporation's global EV and battery technology, HMIL aims to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India.

Currently, HMIL’s charging network has facilitated over 50,000 charging sessions, providing 7.30 lakh units of energy to more than 10,000 EV customers. In Tamil Nadu, the company has signed an MoU with the state government to establish 100 charging stations by 2027, with 10 set to become operational by the end of 2024. Customers can access these 24x7 stations through the myHyundai app, which connects users to over 10,000 charging points across India in collaboration with partners like ChargeZone, Statiq, and Shell India.

The charging stations are designed to be accessible to all four-wheeler EVs manufactured in India, offering competitive tariffs and additional amenities such as restaurants and shopping areas. Locations include major cities like Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, as well as highways like Delhi-Jaipur and Mumbai-Pune. Advanced chargers with multiple configurations ensure efficient charging experiences.
