Hyundai Motor India Maintains SUV Dominance For Second Straight Year

For two straight years now, Hyundai Motor India has led India’s SUV segment. For the year ended December 31, 2021, India’s largest exporter of passenger vehicles continued its market leadership position in SUVs, selling 252,586 units in the calendar year.

In the last five years, the company has sold over 8.34 lakh SUVs, registering a growth of 135 %. Among individual products, the all-new Creta led the pack with sale of 125,437 units in 2021, even as Creta as a brand crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 600,000 units since its launch in 2015. 

Since its launch in May 2019, the Venue has recorded overall sales of 2.60 lakh units, with 1.08 lakh coming in the last calendar year. In over six months since its launch in India, the Hyundai Alcazar registered sale of 17,700 plus units. 

Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India said, “Our passion and commitment to deliver the most exclusive products for customers has led to Hyundai becoming India’s most preferred SUV brand for two years in succession.” Going forward, Garg said, the company will continue to deliver exciting new products with focus on intelligent technology, innovation and sustainability.
