Hyundai Motor India Joins Shell To Install DC Fast Chargers

Initially, the collaboration will see the installation of 60kW DC fast chargers; however, Shell India Markets will also consider installing DC 120 kW fast chargers in dealers instead of DC 60 kW fast chargers if feasible.

In a bid to increase the expansion of charging infrastructure for BEV in India, Hyundai Motor India (HMI) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Shell India Markets (SIM) to install 60 kW DC fast chargers across 36 of its EV Dealerships in India. 

A press release from HMI noted that SIM will also consider installing DC 120 kW fast chargers in dealers instead of DC 60 kW Fast charges if feasible.

Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, HMI, noted that such strategic partnerships are fundamental in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles by customers to achieve the national goal of carbon neutrality.

Sanjay Varkey, Director, SIM, said, “Our strategic partnership with HMI aims to improve the charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles in India by offering easy access and dynamic availability for a safe, reliable, In September 2022, Shell Mobility India announced its plans to set up more than 10,000 charging points across India by 2030 through the Shell Recharge stations. The company noted that the power source for its EV recharge chargers is 100% green energy.
