Hyundai Motor Company marked a historic achievement today, celebrating the global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles. To commemorate the occasion, Hyundai held a special ceremony at its Ulsan Plant in Korea, which played a central role in the company’s growth.
As a gesture of gratitude toward its loyal customers, Hyundai Motor delivered its 100 millionth vehicle, an IONIQ 5, to a customer during the ceremony. The symbolic event, featuring a display of '100 million and 1,' highlighted Hyundai’s commitment to continuously push beyond its achievements and innovate for the future.
Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, “We aim to take ‘one step further’ toward another 100 million units, becoming a game-changer in mobility.”
The Ulsan Plant, established in 1968, is known as the birthplace of Korea's automotive industry, producing the nation’s first mass-produced independent model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, the plant is a hub for Hyundai’s electrification efforts, with a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility in the works.
Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions at Hyundai, praised the hard work and dedication of Hyundai employees, noting that the achievement of 100 million units is only the beginning as Hyundai leads the way into the future of electrification.
Hyundai’s success is supported by the expansion of its premium Genesis and high-performance N brands, along with the launch of EV models such as the IONIQ 5. The company's global manufacturing footprint, which includes facilities in Turkey, India, the US, and the Czech Republic, contributed to surpassing the production of 50 million vehicles in 2013.
Looking to the future, Hyundai continues to innovate with new manufacturing platforms and smart technologies through its Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center in Singapore. These advancements will be implemented in future production sites, maximising efficiency as Hyundai continues its journey toward excellence and global leadership in mobility.
