Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched the updated i20 starting at INR 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom, India, for the base Era variant. With the update, the premium hatchback sees a new design in the front and rear bumpers while featuring a new design for the LED headlamps and 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Hyundai i20 gets new dual-tone grey and black interiors, semi leatherette seat design and a leatherette application door armrest.
The 2023 Hyundai i20 is powered by the 1.2 L Kappa petrol engine with manual and intelligent variable transmission (IVT) options. It now features the Idle Stop & Go (ISG) feature, which is claimed to enhance the vehicle's fuel efficiency.
Tarun Garg, COO, HMIL, said that the i20 brand has sold over 1.3 million units since its inception in India. Prioritising safety as a cornerstone, the new Hyundai i20 comes as standard with features, including six Airbags, electronic stability control, hill assist control, vehicle stability management, 3-point seatbelts, and seatbelt reminders for all occupants, he added.
The i20 competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Tata Altroz, with the Baleno being the top seller in the segment.
