Hyundai India has taken curtains off the fourth generation Tucson in India. The manufacturer is positioning this latest SUV as its flagship product in the country.
Tucson, with sales of over seven million units since its inception, has been a global best-seller for Hyundai, noted Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India. He said, 'As the Indian automotive market continues to evolve, we are witnessing a high customer traction for premium Hyundai SUVs and the time for the next generation of lavish mobility experiences is now.' The new Hyundai Tucson comes powered by either a 1999 cc petrol or a 1997 cc diesel engine. The former is mated to a 6-speed AT transmission while the later comes paired with a 8-speed AT transmission.
The petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 156 PS at 6200 rpm & maximum torque of 192 Nm at 4500 rpm, while the Tucson diesel can generate a maximum power of 186 PS at 4000 rpm & maximum torque of 416 Nm at 2000 to 2750 rpm, claimed the company.
Hyundai’s flagship SUV will offer customers the choice of six colour Ambient Lighting that can be adjusted by the user. It also features Hyundai Bluelink which offers 60 connected car features. The OEM will be offering a three-year free Bluelink subscription to Tucson customers.
SmartSense with Level 2 ADAS capability will be standard across the diesel and petrol variants. On offer will also be six airbags, hill descent and assist control, and electronic stability control. Featuring HTRAC All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system along with Multi Terrain Modes (Snow/Mud/Sand), Hyundai claims that Tucson’s AWD ECU identifies traction conditions and driving state to control torque delivery.
Kim added, 'Curated to pivot a new definition of conventional, the all-new Hyundai Tucson offers customers a space where luxury and technology organically intersect. The all-new Hyundai Tucson will form the perfect expression of Hyundai’s commitment to India, introducing an unmatched benchmark for this segment.”
