Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced a significant achievement in sustainable logistics as it transported 26% of its total domestic wholesale volumes—amounting to 1,56,724 units—via rail freight in CY24.
Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “By utilising Indian Railways’ extensive network for delivering Hyundai vehicles from our plant in Sriperumbudur, Chennai, to multiple locations across India, we have effectively prevented 18,352 tonne of CO2 emissions in CY2024. As the Government of India continues to enhance rail infrastructure with dedicated freight corridors and modern, energy-efficient rolling stock, we remain committed to leveraging rail freight to further optimize our logistics operations and achieve long-term emissions reduction.”
Over the last four years (CY21 - CY24), Hyundai has cumulatively dispatched 5,37,499 units by rail, effectively preventing 63,452 tonne of CO2 emissions.
