Hyundai India Establishes First 180 kW DC Charger mobility outlook

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has inaugurated Chennai's first 180 kW DC fast public electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Spencer Plaza Mall in Anna Salai, Thousand Lights. The new fast charging station is equipped with both 150 kW and 30 kW connectors and is accessible to all EV users regardless of brand or model.

The 180 kW DC fast charging station offers quick charging for EV customers. Users can locate, navigate, and pre-book charging slots through HMIL's Charger Management System available in the myHyundai App. The app also facilitates digital payments and remote monitoring of charging status. Moreover, over 170 existing charging points in Tamil Nadu are mapped in the ‘EV Charge’ section of the myHyundai app, accessible to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users.

Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director - Corporate Planning, HMIL, stated 'Tamil Nadu is home for Hyundai Motor India Limited, and we have been committed to Tamil Nadu since our inception. In line with Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’, we aim to enhance the convenience of all EV users, and hence our charging stations can be utilised by any four-wheeler EV user.”

Strategically placed in the heart of Chennai, the charging station at Spencer Plaza Mall is close to various customer amenities such as coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping complexes. This ensures that customers can enjoy a comfortable and convenient charging experience.
