Hyundai Hope Scholarship Empowers 783 Students Across India

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has awarded scholarships worth INR 3.38 crore under its Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program. Launched in August 2024, the initiative aims to support underprivileged but talented students across India, fostering education, innovation, and social progress. The program has reached out to over 44,000 students from 23 states, focusing on aspirants preparing for competitive exams and young innovators from the nation’s premier engineering institutes.

The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program selected 783 students for financial assistance, including 440 aspirants preparing for the Union and State Civil Services examinations and the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), as well as 343 students from various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These students represent 100 innovation teams working on projects with potential social and environmental impact.

The scholarships were distributed by Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, in the presence of Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Trustee of HMIF, Jeongick Lee, Function Head of Corporate Affairs at HMIL, and Puneet Anand, Vertical Head of Corporate Communication & Social at HMIL.

Kiren Rijiju highlighted that the Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program extends beyond financial aid, enriching lives and nurturing the ambitions of talented young minds. He emphasised the importance of education and technological advancement in India’s growth, noting that initiatives like this help build a skilled and self-reliant nation.

Gopalakrishnan CS, Trustee, HMIF, underscored the role of the program in supporting future policymakers, innovators, and leaders, creating a ripple effect that impacts students, their families, and society at large. He added that the initiative aims to level the playing field, empowering the next generation of leaders to contribute to India’s social and economic development.

The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program is implemented by BharatCares on behalf of HMIF. It demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to driving social change and supporting underprivileged students who show merit and potential.
