Hyundai Motor India Limited, Gurugram Police, and the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) have joined forces to establish the Traffic Engineering Centre (TEC) and Organisation Development Centre (ODC). These facilities inaugurated at the Traffic Towers in Gurugram mark a significant step towards enhancing road safety and traffic management through advanced engineering and capacity-building initiatives.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shatrujeet Kapur, IPS, Director General of Police, Haryana, and Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited. Other dignitaries included Vikas Arora, IPS, Commissioner of Gurugram Police, and Dr Rohit Baluja, President of IRTE. The TEC and ODC were developed by IRTE and are supported by the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF). The centres aim to address road infrastructure challenges while equipping police officers, road engineers, and transport professionals with the skills needed for effective traffic management.
The TEC focuses on diagnosing and resolving road infrastructure issues through advanced traffic engineering practices, while the ODC emphasises capacity-building for professionals involved in road safety operations. Together, these centres aim to create safer and more efficient roads in Gurugram, setting a benchmark for innovative traffic management solutions.
Dr Rohit Baluja highlighted the proactive role of the Gurugram Police and the support of Hyundai Motor India Foundation in bringing these centres to fruition. According to Dr Baluja, the project represents a landmark effort to establish best practices in traffic management and organisational development.
