In a move toward gender inclusivity and skill development, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has facilitated employment for 250 trained women drivers in the Delhi NCR region. This initiative is part of HMIF's Drive4Progress program, in collaboration with 'Navjyoti Transforming Lives & Careers Society' NGO and BluSmart, India's leading EV ride-hailing service.
'Drive4Progress aligns with Hyundai's global vision of 'Progress for Humanity', showcasing our commitment to empowering women and enhancing their skills,' stated Puneet Anand. He emphasised the initiative's role in not only advancing gender equality but also addressing India's need for a skilled workforce in the burgeoning transportation sector.
BluSmart's Anirudh Arun expressed his company's dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workspace, particularly emphasising their efforts to integrate women drivers into their fleet. 'Our focus on training and empowering women driver partners demonstrates our commitment to gender inclusivity and our broader mission of decarbonisation,' he remarked.
The program, designed to uplift individuals from Below Poverty Line (BPL) communities, offers comprehensive driver training to equip them with the necessary skills for employment in the transportation industry.
Participants of the Drive4Progress initiative undergo extensive training covering theoretical knowledge, practical driving skills, soft skills enhancement, and customer service, culminating in a certification by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Post-training, these skilled women drivers are provided with employment opportunities within BluSmart's EV fleet, marking a significant step towards economic empowerment and active participation in the green mobility revolution.
