Hop Electric, a start-up looking at building the next generation new energy mobility ecosystem, has announced the launch of its first electric motorcycle in India, the Hop OXO in two variants – the OXO and OXO ‘X’.
Between the OXO and OXO ‘X’, the only difference is warranty offered on battery. The Hop OXO, which is priced at INR 124,999 will come with a battery warranty for three years or 50,000 km, whereas the Hop OXO X will cost INR 139,999 and will offer unlimited battery warranty for four years.
The Hop OXO features a 3.75 KWh battery pack that the company claims returns a range of 150 km per charge.
The Hop OXO is being retailed via Hop experience centres, and the online channel. At the time of the launch, the company has already received over 5,000 bookings for Hop OXO, noted Ketan Mehta, Founder & CEO, Hop Electric.
“Given that our dealer partners have already conducted 5,000 pre-launch registrations, we foresee tremendous growth in this category. We are continuously working to strengthen our product portfolio,” Mehta said.
The Hop OXO electric motorcycle features a 72 V architecture and a 6,200 W peak power motor that promises 200 Nm of wheel torque. Also on offer are three ride modes, namely eco, sport, and power.
The Hop OXO, which features a lithium-ion battery, 811 code NMC cells, regenerative braking, anti-theft system, and many other modern features, is claimed to achieve a top speed of 90 km/h.
Rahil Gupta, Co-founder, Hop Electric said the OXO electric motorcycle has been built to withstand a 360 kg payload. The product features a proprietary AI algorithm that helps a rider shuffle between the three riding modes.
The company claims that Hop OXO has been tested in over 12 Indian states for over 75,000 km. The electric bike's motor and battery has been tested under water, meeting IP67 standards.
Hop Electric will start deliveries of the OXO from October 1, 2022. The company has a network of 150 dealers, and is accepting bookings of the OXO at INR 999.
