Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced it’s first-ever export of the Made-in-India SUV, the Honda Elevate, to Japan. Renamed as the WR-V for the Japanese market, this initiative marks a significant milestone in Honda's strategic global expansion, positioning its Indian operations as a pivotal export hub.
The launch of the Elevate as WR-V in Japan is more than just an export achievement; it signifies Honda's faith in the Indian manufacturing sector's ability to deliver premium quality products for global consumers. 'The launch of the 'Made-in-India' Elevate as WR-V in Japan is a proud moment for all of us at Honda,' expressed Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd. He further emphasized the critical role of the Indian market in Honda's global business strategies and expressed confidence in replicating the model's success internationally.
The Elevate, which made its global debut in India in September last year, quickly became a cornerstone of HCIL's business, with over 30,000 units sold within six months. Its transition to the WR-V in Japan has been met with enthusiasm, attributed to its bold SUV aesthetics, spacious interiors, and advanced safety features.
Previously, HCIL has been exporting to various markets, including Turkey, Mexico, the Middle East, Nepal, Bhutan, South Africa, and SADC countries. The addition of Japan to this list not only diversifies HCIL's export portfolio but also reinforces the company's vision to leverage its Indian operations as a key export hub.
As the Honda WR-V begins its journey in Japan, it carries with it a narrative of cross-border collaboration, manufacturing excellence, and the global potential of the Indian automotive industry, promising an exciting new chapter in Honda's history.
