Honda made a groundbreaking debut at CES 2025 with the world premiere of two prototype models, the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, along with its original ASIMO OS, a next-generation vehicle operating system.
These vehicles are built on Honda’s newly developed EV architecture and adhere to the “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach, emphasising advanced design, lightweight construction, and intelligent technology.
The Honda 0 Saloon, the flagship model, features a sleek, sporty exterior with a surprisingly spacious interior. Equipped with Level 3 automated driving technology and the ultra-customisable ASIMO OS, the saloon promises a unique, user-centric mobility experience. The Honda 0 SUV, inspired by Honda’s Space-Hub concept, offers an open and versatile cabin with superior field visibility, further enhancing comfort and functionality. Both models will debut first in North America before expanding to Japan and Europe.
ASIMO OS: The Intelligent Heart Of Honda 0 Series
The ASIMO OS, named after Honda’s iconic humanoid robot, powers the Honda 0 Series with advanced features such as:
- Ultra-Personal Optimisation: Customises driving and cabin experiences for individual users.
- Over-the-Air Updates: Enables continuous improvement of vehicle features post-purchase.
- Integrated Control Of Vehicle Systems: Manages advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and dynamics to deliver seamless functionality.
By leveraging technologies from ASIMO’s legacy in robotics, including real-time decision-making and external environment recognition, the OS ensures an intuitive and connected driving experience.
Advanced Driving, Safety Technologies
Honda 0 Series models will incorporate Level 3 automated driving technology, allowing drivers to safely perform secondary tasks like watching movies or attending virtual meetings during specific driving conditions. Honda plans to expand the use of 'eyes-off' capabilities across a broader range of driving scenarios through OTA updates. This advancement builds on Honda’s pioneering achievements in Level 3 automation, first introduced with the Honda Legend in 2021.
Honda’s proprietary AI, developed in collaboration with Helm.ai, integrates behaviour models of experienced drivers and unsupervised learning to enhance driving precision and situational awareness. This combination aims to eliminate traffic collisions, creating safer roads for all.
Collaboration With Renesas For High-Performance SoCs
In partnership with Renesas Electronics Corporation, Honda announced the development of a high-performance System-on-Chip (SoC) to power the centralized ECU of the Honda 0 Series. This SoC delivers an industry-leading AI performance of 2,000 TOPS while optimising power efficiency, enabling seamless management of ADAS, powertrain, and comfort systems.
Energy Innovations, Sustainable Charging Solutions
To support Honda 0 Series models, the OEM is spearheading initiatives to create a sustainable charging ecosystem. In North America, Honda is part of an automaker alliance to establish IONNA, a joint venture that aims to develop 30,000 high-quality charging stations by 2030. By adopting the North American Charging Standard (NACS), the company is ensuring seamless access to over 100,000 charging points globally.
Honda also unveiled plans for Smart Charge, a home energy management system co-developed with Emporia Corp., which allows vehicles to charge during low-cost, renewable energy periods and discharge power during peak times. This system transforms Honda 0 Series vehicles into virtual power plants (VPPs), reducing household energy costs and enabling owners to earn income by supplying power back to the grid.
Vision For Zero Environmental Impact
Honda’s energy services and battery management technologies ensure minimal battery degradation, making the Honda 0 Series a sustainable solution for both mobility and energy storage. By combining EV innovation with renewable energy integration, Honda aims to achieve a carbon-neutral future.
With the Honda 0 Series, the ASIMO OS, and advanced driving technologies, the automaker is setting a new benchmark in electric vehicle innovation. By blending robotics, AI, and sustainable design, it envisions a future where mobility transcends transportation, creating connected, intelligent spaces for people to thrive. The introduction of these models in 2026 marks the beginning of a transformative era in electric mobility, with Honda leading the charge toward a smarter, safer, and greener world.
