This is big! Honda has decided to kill all of its scooters and motorcycles that are powered by ICE engines by 2040. The company will only sell clean energy vehicles from 2040.

This is the first time the Japanese brand has given a deadline to go all green. It will launch a total of 10 EVs, including motorcycles, by 2025. Through this, it is expected to have an annual sales of one million EVs by 2026. By 2030, this sales number is expected to reach 3.5 million units per year and that is around 15 per cent of its total two-wheeler sales.

Over the last few years, Honda has been investing heavily not just to develop electric vehicles, but also to build an eco-system to support the growth of EVs. It is working on solid-state batteries, forming new joint ventures to develop battery exchange programs and also install new charging points.

In India, the company is yet to launch an electric vehicle and this is likely to happen in the next few months. There have been rumours about the electric Activa making its official debut, and if this turns out to be true, a lot of EV brands like Ola and Ather could see some trouble coming their way.
