Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (HEID) has announced the launch of its battery swap service for the newly introduced Activa e: electric scooter by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). The Honda e:Swap service will begin operations in Bengaluru from February 2025 with expansion to New Delhi and Mumbai in April 2025.
The battery swap service enables Activa e: users to exchange discharged batteries for fully charged ones at strategically located stations. Users can access the service by registering through HEID’s dedicated mobile application upon purchasing the vehicle. The system is designed to alleviate range anxiety and reduce the upfront cost of ownership, as the batteries remain owned and managed by HEID.
HEID plans to establish a comprehensive battery swap network across the three cities by March 2026. These stations will be set up in collaboration with partners such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), and Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited, alongside HMSI dealerships. The network will utilise Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: systems, which are designed to monitor and optimise battery performance while ensuring user safety.
This development builds on HEID’s experience with battery swapping for electric auto rickshaws, which began in 2021. The service has demonstrated significant benefits, including lowering vehicle purchase costs and enhancing convenience for EV users. HEID’s battery swapping technology employs Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries, which are robust, cooled during exchange, and monitored through the Honda Power Pack Cloud system to ensure optimal functionality across the network.
The expansion of battery swap services is supported by HEID’s recent capital infusion of INR 2.2 billion aimed at scaling its operations and infrastructure. The investment will help HEID deliver a reliable and integrated system for monitoring batteries and exchangers, ensuring high-quality service and seamless user experiences.
