In a bid to promote road safety education, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched its innovative digital learning platform, E-Gurukul. The launch took place in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, alongside senior officials from Honda and state dignitaries.
Comprehensive and Accessible Road Safety EducationE-Gurukul is tailored to address the road safety education needs of diverse age groups, offering dedicated training modules for children and young adults:
- Ages 5-8: A 7-minute module
- Ages 9-15: A 9-minute module
- Ages 16-18: A 7-minute module
The modules, available in six languages—Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English—aim to make road safety education more inclusive and regionally relevant. The platform also supports live streaming for Tier-1 cities and downloadable content for Tier-2 cities, ensuring accessibility across urban and rural areas.
Accessible through egurukul.honda.hmsi.in the platform empowers children, educators, and parents to embrace safe road practices and serves as a stepping stone toward creating a safer road culture in India.
Vinay Dhingra, Senior Director - HR & Administration, HMSI, and Trustee of Honda India Foundation, said, “Through E-Gurukul, we aim to inculcate a positive mindset towards road safety in young minds. These young champions will inspire their families and contribute to Honda’s global vision of zero traffic fatalities by 2050.”
HMSI’s efforts align with the Government of India’s direction to reduce road fatalities by 50% by 2030. Road safety education is a key pillar in this endeavour, introducing a culture of safety in schools and colleges to empower future generations.
The E-Gurukul launch is part of HMSI’s extensive CSR initiatives that include daily road safety programmes conducted by skilled instructors at 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks and six Safety Driving Education Centers across India. These initiatives have reached over 8.5 million people, spreading awareness across diverse segments, from schoolchildren to corporates.
