HMSI Activa e: & QC1 mobility outlook

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially ventured into the electric mobility space with the launch of its first-ever electric scooters, the Activa e: and QC1. The unveiling signifies a pivotal step in Honda’s electrification journey, aligning with its global vision of carbon neutrality by 2050 under the 'Triple Action to ZERO' strategy. Bookings for the models will open in January 2025, with deliveries scheduled to begin in February 2025.

The Activa e: reimagines the iconic Activa brand with a modern electric platform incorporating swappable battery technology. It is powered by Honda's Mobile Power Pack e: consisting of two swappable 1.5 kWh batteries that deliver a range of 102 km on a full charge. The batteries can be exchanged at Honda’s BeX swapping stations, already operational in Bengaluru and Delhi, with expansions planned for Mumbai. Equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, the Activa e: produces a peak power of 6 kW and a torque of 22 Nm achieving a top speed of 80 kmph and accelerating from 0 to 60 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.

The QC1 features a fixed 1.5 kWh battery offering a range of 80 km per charge. Charging the QC1 at home is aided by an off-board charger with auto-cut technology which ensures safety and efficiency. The scooter is powered by an in-wheel motor with a peak output of 1.8 kW and a maximum torque of 77 Nm achieving a top speed of 50 kmph. Both models offer distinct riding modes, catering to diverse rider preferences and enhancing efficiency.

These scooters boast modern features such as advanced display systems and user-friendly connectivity options. The Activa e: includes a 7.0-inch TFT screen with navigation support and Honda RoadSync Duo app integration. The QC1 features a 5.0-inch LCD display alongside practical additions like a USB Type-C charging outlet and 26-litre under-seat storage.

Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, HMSI, noted the importance of these EVs in meeting the evolving needs of modern mobility. Yogesh Mathur, Director of Sales and Marketing, added that the ACTIVA e: and QC1 offer industry-leading features and convenience, including insulated tools for safe servicing and enhanced customer support through free roadside assistance in the first year.

Both models will be produced at HMSI’s Narsapura plant near Bengaluru and will come with a 3-year or 50,000 km warranty, along with free services during the first year. The ACTIVA e: will initially be available in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, while the QC1 will be launched in select cities.
