The new third-gen Honda Amaze is coming on 4 December and with it, Honda is trying something new yet something so familiar. The new Amaze gets a new exterior design, a revised cabin, and the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol with both MT and CVT options. The new Amaze’s claim to fame will be an ADAS package, a first among its rivals, both in the sub-four compact sedan segment and the premium hatchback game.
Honda was one of the first to bring Level 2 ADAS in the sub-Rs. 25 lakh segment with the City e:HEV, and with the launch of this new Amaze, it will now offer the feature across all their cars. However, our sources have revealed that it will only be offered on the top-of-the-line ZX variants and because this is Honda, we expect it on both the MT and AT transmission options. The ADAS list is expected to include lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, and collision avoidance. All versions will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, a stability programme, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points as a part of the safety package.
Sedans may have taken a back seat in the vehicle race thanks to the large range of SUVs but that doesn’t mean that there is no interest around them. The performance of the new-generation Maruti Dzire is a good mark of this phenomenon. The new Amaze Honda too looks like it has a strong enough package to put a challenge to cars like the Hyundai Aura, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Tata Tigor, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, and of course, the Maruti Dzire.
