Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced an expansion of its preventive replacement campaign for fuel pumps in select older models. The campaign, which originally targeted certain vehicles, now includes an additional 90,468 units, bringing the total to 92,672 vehicles affected across India. This move is part of a proactive effort to address potential safety issues linked to faulty fuel pump components.

The affected models include a range of vehicles produced between 2017 and 2018. The largest number of impacted units is seen in the Honda City model, with 32,872 vehicles identified. Other affected models are the Amaze, Brio, BR-V, Jazz, and WR-V, each having several thousand vehicles included in the campaign. Additionally, 2,204 older models that had their fuel pumps replaced with potentially faulty spare parts are also covered in this expanded effort.

The affected vehicles may have fuel pumps with defective impellers, which could lead to engine failure, causing the vehicle to stop or fail to start. To mitigate any risks, HCIL will be replacing the faulty fuel pumps at no cost to the customer. The replacement programme will begin on 5th November 2024 with HCIL dealerships handling the process in a phased manner. Owners of the impacted models will be contacted directly by the company.

Vehicle owners can check whether their cars are affected by submitting their 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The company has also extended the check to customers who purchased replacement fuel pumps over the counter between June 2017 and October 2023.
