Japanese automaker Honda Cars India to halt its production for ten days due to rising cases of coronavirus, the company said in a press statement. 

The company that produces popular models such as Amaze and City will also be going through annual maintenance in the said period. 

“In view of the current severe situation from the 2nd wave of COVID – 19, Honda Cars India has informed its associates and suppliers that the company is making calendar adjustments along with its maintenance block closure at its manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.” a company spokesman said. 

“The production will be halted from 7th May 2021 till 18th May 2021. The manufacturing operations will resume from 19th May 2021. The maintenance block closure was originally scheduled from mid of May 2021.” he added 

HCIL associates working in corporate and zonal offices for all functions have been primarily working from home, extending all possible support to customers and business partners.

Only some associates involved in running essential services that require physical presence or minimal staffing for a few critical activities are attending the office with full precautions.

Earlier companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Mahindra & Mahindra have halted their operations to combat coronavirus spread.
