Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has reported an impressive performance in December 2023, marking a significant growth trajectory in both domestic sales and exports. The leading manufacturer of premium cars in India recorded a 12% growth in domestic sales, reaching 7,902 units, compared to the same period the previous year. Additionally, the company achieved its highest-ever monthly export volume, shipping out 3,749 units with a remarkable growth rate of 170%.
In December 2022, HCIL had reported domestic sales of 7,062 units and exports of 1,388 units, making the year-over-year growth in both segments noteworthy for the automaker.
Yuichi Murata, Director of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India Ltd, expressed satisfaction with the month's performance. He highlighted the significant contribution of the recently launched SUV Elevate to the company's overall sales, accounting for over 50% of total HCIL sales. The popular models, City and Amaze, also continued to be strong pillars of the brand's business.
The export segment witnessed an outstanding achievement, with Honda Cars India registering its highest-ever monthly export volume. The 170% growth in exports demonstrates the global appeal of Honda's cars manufactured in India.
Murata emphasised the company's positive outlook for 2024, attributing the success to a robust business plan and the growing market potential. He expressed optimism for the future, driven by strong sales momentum and the continued popularity of Honda's vehicles in the Indian and international markets.
