Honda Cars India has announced commencement of production for the Elevate at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The SUV, with a localisation level of 90%, will debut in September.
Takuya Tsumura, President & CEO, said Elevate would become an important pillar of the company’s business and draw more members to the Honda family.Unveiled in June, bookings for the SUV are INR 21,000.
Elevate is powered by a 1.5L i-Vtec petrol engine paired to either a six speed manual transmission or a CVT producing 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque. It will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Sletos, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross.
