All its rivals already offer a factory-fitted CNG kit

The Honda Amaze is now available in the CNG avatar, albeit with a catch. Only select dealerships of the Japanese brand are offering a CNG kit for a premium of Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 80,000 (ex-showroom).

The CNG kit for the Honda Amaze is offered exclusively in the manual transmission trims and the said dealerships are offering a one-year warranty. The CNG kit for the Honda Amaze is sourced from Lovato, which is a recognised name in the aftermarket car industry.

All the rivals to the Amaze, including the Tata Tigor, Maruti Dzire, and the Hyundai Aura, already offer a CNG version in the market, although these are in the form of a factory-fitted kit. The new derivative for the Amaze could be a move to increase sales, especially since the diesel version of the sub-four-metre sedan was discontinued, thus creating a void in sales numbers.

Notably, the rivals to the Honda Amaze, specifically the Dzire and Aura, get a fair chunk of their sales from the CNG versions. Further, with the high running that CNG cars usually undergo, it only makes sense for Honda to offer a more affordable fuel option, even if it means taking the aftermarket route.
