The MG Astor or the ZS, as it is known in most other markets, is finally getting an update and this has been teased first for the Spanish market ahead of a debut on 26 August. The biggest change to the crossover is that it will get a new face and headlamps. Glimpses of the profile indicate slightly wider haunches, while at the rear, you get new taillamps and badging as part of the deal.

We expect it to get an upgraded cabin along the lines of what has been shown with the HS SUV. The India-spec car is already pretty loaded up with features like climate control, dual digital screens, Level 2 ADAS, a power driver’s seat, and a 360-degree camera package. These are all expected to be carried over unchanged. The Indian market will continue with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre NA petrol. Both engines can be had with AT and MT options.

This upgrade for ZS/Astor will come at a time when all of its major rivals have received generational changes or facelifts, making it all the more crucial. This upgraded car will continue to take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Tata Curvv, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
