Henkel Opens New Engineering Centre, Adhesives Plant For Electronics Sector

By deepening its presence in India’s fast-growing electronics sector, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of innovation, localization, and sustainable manufacturing.

Henkel has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art Application Engineering Centre in Chennai, further reinforcing its Adhesive Technologies leadership in the electronics sector. In a parallel move, the company will establish an adhesive materials manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh, near Pune, as part of its ongoing commitment to localization, innovation, and accelerated product development.

With India’s electronics industry poised for exponential growth, driven by government initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, Henkel’s expanded presence positions it as a key enabler of this transformation.

Strengthening India’s Electronics Ecosystem

A High-Tech Hub In Chennai

Located in Tamil Nadu, a growing electronics manufacturing hub, Henkel’s 17,000 sq. ft. Chennai facility is designed to accelerate New Product Introductions (NPIs) and reduce time-to-market for its customers. The center boasts:

    • Five specialized labs focused on advanced adhesive solutions and thermal management materials to enhance device durability, reliability, and sleek design in smartphones, wearables, and other consumer electronics.
    • Cutting-edge technologies, including state-of-the-art dispensing systems, vacuum impregnation for device waterproofing, and high-precision material analysis tools for rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept testing, and product validation.
    • Global connectivity, complementing Henkel’s innovation centers in Germany, the US, China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.

Smart Manufacturing

Henkel’s upcoming adhesives plant in Kurkumbh will reinforce local production of high-performance adhesive and coating solutions, ensuring supply chain agility and sustainability. The plant will leverage Industry 4.0 smart factory systems to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and minimize downtime.
