Harman India Inaugurates Technical Centre In Chennai

The new centre will be fully functional by the second quarter of this year and will support Harman India to tap into Chennai’s talent pool of automotive engineers and researchers.

Harman, an automotive electronics technology company and subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has announced the inauguration of its new automotive engineering centre in Chennai. The new centre will cater to both global and Indian OEMs and will work in tandem with the other key centres, including Bangalore and Pune, to develop advanced automotive technologies.

The new Chennai centre will be fully functional by the second quarter of this year and will support the company to tap into Chennai’s talent pool of automotive engineers and researchers, stated the company in a release. The centre will start operations with a workforce of 200 employees in the first year, and will “contribute to the growth of the global auto ecosystem”.

The centre is strategically located on the Mount-Poonamallee Road (MPR) – Porur, and has been built using sustainable materials to conserve electrical energy. Even the furniture has been made using eco-friendly and renewable materials, and has approximately 6% EV charging points. 

Prathab Deivanayagham, Managing Director, Harman India, said, “With our automotive legacy and ground-breaking new products, we are well-positioned to deliver consumer experiences, automotive grade to our customers. We are excited about the opportunities this new facility will bring, both for our domestic OEMs and as a key driver of Harman’s global innovations.”
