Jeep India on Thursday launched the fifth generation Grand Cherokee at INR 77.5 lakh, ex-showroom, India. It will be available at select dealerships while deliveries will begin in end-November.
Developed on the company’s all-new WL platform, the Grand Cherokee will be made in India and is the fourth model in the line-up to be locally produced.

Powering the vehicle is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired to an eight speed automatic transmission generating 272hp of power and 400Nm of torque. The power is sent to all the four wheels via quadra-trac I 4x4 system.
The SUV also offers selectable terrain modes: auto, sport, mud/sand and snow. It comes with a ground clearance of 215 mm and a water fording capability of upto 533mm.
The Grand Cherokee can automatically switch to four-wheel drive mode whenever the system detects the need. The 4x4 Quadra-Trac system includes an active transfer case that transfers torque to the wheel.
The vehicle features a 10-inch heads up display, 10.1-inch (25.6-cm) touchscreen radio, 10.25-inch (26-cm) instrument cluster panel, a 10.25-inch (26-cm) front passenger interactive display and 8-way adjustable front seats.
Running Uconnect 5 software, the infotainment system in the Grand Cherokee features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, it gets 33 connectivity features including 24X7 dedicated assistance, remote vehicle management, monitor vehicle parameters, navigation & connected traffic & travel, 24-hour surveillance & automatic crash/ breakdown detection.
The vehicle also offers 110 advanced safety and security features, including active driving assistance system(ADAS), 360-Degree Surround View, Drowsy Driver Detection, 3 Point seatbelt and Occupant Detection for all five passengers.
Global sales of the Grand Cherokee have totalled more than seven million units over four generations and almost 30 years of existence. Nipun J. Mahajan, Head, Jeep India, noted that the vehicle offers a new level of luxury, safety, technology and comfort.
