Gestamp, a global leader in automotive technology specializing in the design and production of highly engineered metal components, has introduced a series of groundbreaking innovations at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The company is at the forefront of the industry's shift towards electrification, sustainability, and safety, unveiling new technologies aimed at enhancing vehicle performance while reducing environmental impact.
As the automotive landscape undergoes a transformative change with the rise of electric vehicles (EVs) and increasingly stringent safety standards, Gestamp’s offerings address the growing demand for lightweight, eco-friendly materials. The company is committed to reducing CO₂ emissions without compromising on cost efficiency. Its innovative technologies are designed to support the future of mobility, contributing to the development of lighter, safer vehicles that consume less energy and minimise their environmental footprint.
“We are excited to present these innovative products that represent the next generation of automotive technology,” said Mr. Glyn Jones, Country Manager, Gestamp India. “Sustainability has always been at the heart of Gestamp’s mission. As we continue to innovate, we focus on creating products that enhance safety, reduce CO₂ emissions, and optimise vehicle performance. These advancements underscore our dedication to driving the future of electric mobility while meeting the evolving needs of the automotive industry.'
A Leap Forward in Lightweight and Safer Vehicle Components
One of the key highlights at the Expo was the introduction of Gestamp’s GES-GIGASTAMPING® product family, which features large, integrated components designed to improve vehicle safety and reduce weight. These components replace multiple cold and hot-stamped parts with a single unit, streamlining assembly processes and cutting production costs. The new components offer enhanced safety cell integrity during crashes, lighter weight, easier integration, and a more sustainable solution—an innovation that contributes to the future of electric mobility.
In the chassis segment, Gestamp unveiled its Highpertubes—high-strength tube materials specifically designed to improve crash performance. These materials are manufactured using advanced hydroforming techniques, achieving optimal CO₂ efficiency while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The Highpertubes are a vital addition to vehicle structures, ensuring better occupant protection in the event of an accident.
Innovations for Electric Vehicles and Pedestrian Safety
Gestamp also introduced its cutting-edge Active Frunk system, designed for electric vehicles. This system features a powered mechanism that automatically opens and closes the front lid, while also integrating pedestrian protection measures. The Active Frunk is an example of Gestamp’s commitment to providing solutions that enhance both vehicle safety and user convenience in the rapidly evolving electric mobility sector.
Sustainability and Circular Economy Initiatives
Gestamp’s commitment to sustainability is evident not only in its product innovations but also in its operational practices. The company is focused on achieving carbon-neutral production by 2050 and has set a target to reduce CO₂ emissions and resource consumption significantly. By incorporating recycled materials and transitioning to 100% green electricity by 2030, Gestamp is advancing the circular economy model within the automotive industry.
In addition to using recycled materials, Gestamp is enhancing its scrap management system to ensure the efficient reuse of high-quality scrap steel. This process contributes to lowering emissions, conserving water, and promoting a sustainable materials economy. Through these efforts, Gestamp is actively working to reduce the automotive industry’s reliance on primary raw materials, helping steer the sector towards a more climate-friendly future.
