In a bid to further expand its offerings across the globe, the American multinational automotive manufacturing corporation GM has announced its newly formed entity, GM Defense International.
GM Defense will continue to operate as a subsidiary of its parent company, General Motors, reporting to GM President Mark Reuss, a press release from the company said.
With the new entity, the company aims to extend its Defense’s reach into global markets in support of US allies and partners’ transition to a more electric, autonomous and connected future, the release added.
Steve duMont, President, GM Defense, said, “Forming GM Defense International will drive our continued expansion as we leverage GM’s rich legacy of innovation in support of global defence and government customers.”
He added, “As we continue to explore opportunities across North America, Europe, the Middle East, the Indo Pacific region and beyond, we look forward to leveraging commercial technology to modernise the mobility capabilities of allied armed forces around the world.”
Meanwhile, GM Defense also aims to leverage GM’s $35 billion investment in transformational technologies to support its global defence and Government customers’ use of electrification, autonomy and connected vehicles across the battlespace, the release added.
