
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for four major manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana. This initiative, under the EMC-2.0 Scheme, is part of the state's efforts to boost electronics manufacturing.
The event saw the groundbreaking of Amara Raja's Giga Factory-1, Lohum's critical minerals refining and battery recycling plant, Scell Energy's cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin's LFP-CAM Giga Factory. This marks a significant leap towards establishing Telangana as a key player in the electronics and battery manufacturing sectors.
Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of battery technology for India's economy, likening its significance to that of steel and chemicals. The Minister also highlighted the Union Government's commitment to the region, including a INR 5,000 crore investment in railway infrastructure development.
Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of Amara Raja, expressed gratitude for the support from both the central and state governments, with plans to manufacture lithium-ion cells indigenously. The project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, driving economic growth in the region.
