Pune-based vehicle manufacturer Force Motors on Wednesday unveiled the new Gurkha. Built on a ground-up modular architecture platform, the car features an all-new wider and longer body, new interiors, crash compliant, high strength C-in-C chassis and new coil spring suspension on all four wheels fine-tuned to achieve the right balance, offering improved ride quality on multiple surfaces viz., tarmac, rough rural roads and off the road. Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors, said that with the modular architecture platform, the new Gurkha will appeal to a much wider audience who wish to own a vehicle suitable for both daily commutes and adventure trips. The new off-roader also promises improved safety with airbags for driver and co-passenger, ISOFIX compatible seats, ABS and EBD offered as standard. Force Gurkha is powered by a 2.6 litre Mercedes derived common rail, direct injection, turbocharged diesel engine delivering 91 hp and low-end torque of 250Nm at 1,400 – 2,400 rpm. The SUV also gets a 5-speed Mercedes G-28 transmission with cable shift and the hydraulically activated clutch with a booster. The new Gurkha comes with a touch screen infotainment system with android and apple play compatibility and navigation with true mirroring via USB. The vehicle comes with a 1.5 lakh km/3-year warranty and four free services. Force Motors has also tied up with Auto Europa India, which has over 6,200 touchpoints for on-road assistance. Also on offer are a host of custom-made accessories and merchandise to make each Gurkha distinctive and ensure the adventure trips are safe and memorable. The vehicles are expected to arrive at dealerships in the first week of October, with the first deliveries to customers scheduled for Dussehra. Initially, the all-new Gurkha will be available at select locations in the key markets. Thereafter, the footprint shall be expanded in a phased manner.
