FlixBus India in collaboration with ETO Motors has launched its first intercity electric bus operations between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The initiative celebrates FlixBus India’s first anniversary marking a step towards sustainable long-distance travel in India.
The Hyderabad-Vijayawada route will begin operations with four electric buses following a two-week test run. A 12-week evaluation period will analyse key metrics such as battery performance and passenger booking patterns to assess the feasibility of scaling operations. The project is supported by Thunder Plus, which has established depot and opportunity charging stations along the route equipped with 240 KW fast chargers to ensure efficient charging and prevent battery overheating.
The electric buses feature advanced technologies, including dashcams, GPS, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensuring a safe and seamless travel experience for passengers. Additionally, the charging hubs have been designed to provide convenience for travellers, including restaurants and other amenities.
Rajeev YSR, Group CMO, ETO Motors, noted that the project completes ETO Motors’ green mobility ecosystem, covering first-mile, last-mile, and now intercity travel solutions.
Surya Khurana, Managing Director, FlixBus India, stated that FlixBus India is taking its technology-driven, affordable, and comfortable bus services to the next level by introducing electric buses.
