Global automotive aftermarket leader Ferdinand Bilstein GmbH + Co. KG has officially launched its India subsidiary, marking a strategic milestone in the group’s continued global expansion.
Incorporated in February 2025 and officially operational from April 1, Ferdinand Bilstein India Private Limited becomes the 23rd international subsidiary of the German-headquartered parts pioneer.
The newly formed Indian entity will be led by Ramachandra Puttanna as Managing Director, bringing over 35 years of experience in the automotive sector. A seasoned mechanical engineer and business strategist, Ramachandra has previously held leadership roles at Bosch India, ZF Group, Magneti Marelli, and most recently Greaves Retail, where he led the expansion of EV-centric product solutions.
Ramachandra said, “Our goal is not only to strengthen ties with existing customers but also to establish the group as a reliable, long-term partner across the aftermarket landscape.”
Karsten Schüssler-Bilstein, Group Managing Director, called the India launch a high-priority strategic move, citing the subcontinent’s diverse vehicle fleet and fast-paced aftermarket development as key drivers. “India is a critical piece in our global vision. We are eager to actively contribute to the dynamic momentum of this market and further cement our role as a trusted global player,” he noted.
The India expansion aligns with Bilstein group’s 2024 growth performance, which saw double-digit growth exceeding 10%. With over 50,000 replacement parts in its global portfolio spanning passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and even agricultural and off-highway machinery, the group continues to anticipate the evolving demands of hybrid, electric, and hydrogen mobility.
As a trailblazer in the replacement parts industry, Ferdinand Bilstein is known for offering aftermarket solutions that rival or surpass OEM standards, staying ahead of the curve in innovation and availability. With 24 industry awards in 2024 and ongoing investment in logistics and sales infrastructure, the group’s commitment to international expansion remains resolute.
With its Indian subsidiary now operational, febi – the flagship brand under Bilstein group – is poised to become a significant player in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets, delivering precision-engineered, high-quality parts designed for the future of mobility.
