Evtric Motors, a start-up and a part of Patil Automation (PAPL) is looking at entering multiple segments of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

For a company that began operations in 2015, Evtric recently introduced its debut products – Evtric Ride and Evtric Axis electric two-wheelers, and has also announced its plans until 2024. By the end of this calendar year, the company plans to launch three additional e2Ws, including a high speed e-scooter. The said product is scheduled to be launched in November 2021 and is currently in the certification stage.

By October 2021, the company also plans to launch an e-cycle, and an e-bike by December 2021.

Manoj Patil, Founder & MD, Evtric Motors also shared his vision with products in the e3W and e4W segments. By next year, Evtric is aiming to launch an e3W targeted towards the cargo market, and by 2024, the company hopes to play in the e4W domain as well.

Patil said the exposure from the parent company PAPL has given Evtric the required experience to enter the EV market. “We haven’t really started full-fledged activity because we are currently working and focusing on the scooters, motorcycle and e-cycle,” he said.

Investment plans

Of the planned phase-wise INR 100 crore investment, the company has already invested INR 60-65 crore, claimed Patil. Bulk of the investment has gone into building the plant, located in Chakan, Pune. The plant, Patil claimed, is capable of producing about 1.5 lakh units per annum. However, the current output is about 2,000 units considering it has only recently entered the market.

On being probed about the remaining planned investment, Patil said about INR 40 crore would be invested majorly on the infrastructure development for the e3w and e4w products.

Current line-up

The current product portfolio of Evtric consists of two low-speed scoters, the Ride and Axis and a last mile delivery e-scooter. The two low-speed e-scooters come with a detachable lithium-ion battery option that provides the users with a claimed range of 75 km on a single charge. With a 250 W motor, these e2Ws have a top speed of 25 kmph and a maximum loading capacity of 150 kg.

Connect, the low-speed B2B e-delivery scooter comes with a maximum loading capacity of 150 kg and is capable of a top speed of 25 kmph. With two swappable lithium-ion batteries, the scooter gets a claimed range of 110 km. Patil said the company is currently in discussion with various logistics companies for the Connect.
