Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) startup River has announced the launch of Indie electric scooter at INR 125,000 ex-showroom. Calling it the 'SUV of Scooters,' the OEM will first retail this electric scooter in Bengaluru. Aravind Mani, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, River, noted that the scooter offers a combination of utility and lifestyle.
Indie features 14-inch wheels, the first of their kind in any electric scooter being sold in India. The vehicle has the largest storage in any scooter with a massive 43L under-the-seat storage, a 12L front glove box, and Lock & Load pannie. Also on offer with the scooter are signature twin-beam headlamps and a unique tail lamp design, and motorcycle-inspired clip-on handlebars.

The unique combination of design elements and technical specs give Indie a distinct character, something that inspires you to do more and be more.”
Indie has the longest and widest seat in the segment, twin rear hydraulic suspension, and telescopic front suspension. It is powered by a 6.7 kW motor that can take the vehicle to a top speed of 90 kmph and have a gradeability of 18 degrees. Featuring Eco, Ride and Rush modes, the 4 kWh battery provides a real-world range of 120 km and can be charged to 80% in five hours with a standard charger.
