Eurogrip Tyres has officially introduced its international Trailhound range in India. The launch consists of two distinct tyre variants: Trailhound SCR, designed specifically for modern-classic roadsters, scramblers, and café racers, and Trailhound STR, tailored for medium to large adventure motorcycles.
The Trailhound SCR tyres incorporate advanced radial structures featuring 0° steel belts, enhancing handling, agility, and control across diverse riding speeds. Additionally, their X-ply construction with synthetic fibres improves lateral stiffness, ensuring comfort over uneven surfaces. A special compound combining high silica content with carbon black optimises grip in both dry and wet conditions. The variable radius profile of SCR tyres adjusts the tyre's contact patch dynamically, providing optimal performance from straight rides through varying lean angles. Their distinctive knobby-like tread pattern further ensures excellent asphalt performance while maintaining adequate traction on gravel, dirt, stone paving, and even damaged roads.
Similarly, the Trailhound STR tyres also feature radial structures reinforced by 0° steel belts for increased agility and stable handling at all speeds. Their X-ply synthetic fibre construction ensures strong resistance to impacts and superior ride comfort. Unique to the STR variant is a 'Quadrazone multicompound' tread layout, designed with dual compounds and two additional layers, enhancing grip, mileage, and overall stability. The high silica content, amounting to 80%, significantly improves tyre grip, especially on cold or wet road surfaces, making the STR variant particularly suitable for demanding adventure riding.
P Madhavan, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Sales, TVS Srichakra Ltd, emphasised that these new additions would significantly enrich Eurogrip’s premium product portfolio and cater specifically to the fast-growing segment of adventure motorcycling enthusiasts in India. He expressed optimism about bringing more high-quality products to meet the rising demand of Indian motorcyclists.
V Sivaramakrishnan, Chief Technology Officer, TVS Srichakra Ltd, explained that the SCR variant offers an 80% on-road and 20% off-road capability, providing strong water drainage and enhanced traction on gravel, alongside impressive stability on regular roads. The STR variant is equipped with a 90% on-road and 10% off-road tread pattern, designed to effectively disperse water, maintain uniform wear, and offer superior grip even on moderate off-road conditions.
