Epsilon Carbon has taken a significant step towards sustainability by incorporating a fleet of electric trucks into its logistics operations. This move demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and sets a new standard within the industry.
The newly introduced fleet consists of heavy-duty trucks with a battery capacity of 258 kWh and a range of 185 km, ensuring a smooth transition to electric logistics. This initiative aligns with Epsilon Carbon’s broader objective of reducing its carbon footprint and embracing greener technologies across its value chain.
Last year, the company debuted its first electric truck, which successfully transported over 29,000 MT of coal tar—accounting for 16% of the company’s annual raw material needs—while reducing CO₂ emissions by 25.4 metric tonne.
Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, said, 'India’s road logistics sector handles 70% of domestic freight and plays a crucial role in the economy. As responsible leaders in the chemical industry, integrating electric trucks into our operations reflects our commitment to minimising environmental impact and supporting India’s goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070.'
