Envalior, a global leader in sustainable engineering materials, has announced its participation in the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
Formed through the merger of DSM Engineering Materials and Lanxess High Performance Materials, Envalior provides high-performance manufacturing solutions across industries. The company aims to reinforce its commitment to sustainability through its newly launched “Sustainability Ambitions,” which focus on significant greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions and a fully circular portfolio.
Envalior has set ambitious targets, including achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2030, reducing GHG emissions by 75% by 2030, and achieving full carbon neutrality by 2040. It also aims to offer a complete range of bio-based and/or recycled alternatives by 2030.
Günter Margraf, Director of Sustainability for Envalior, emphasized that sustainability is central to the company’s strategy, stating, 'Meeting these ambitions will enable us to achieve the transformation ahead and support our customers on their sustainability journey.'
The United Nations Global Compact aims to foster an inclusive and sustainable global economy, promoting principles related to human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. By joining this initiative, the company commits to operating in line with these principles and sharing annual reports on its sustainability progress.
Calum McLean, CEO of Envalior, noted, “It is exciting to confirm our support for the UN Global Compact, making it a part of our strategy, culture, and daily operations.”
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Envalior is focused on SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The company’s goal to achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2030 supports SDG 7. Measures like renewable power purchase agreements and solar installations are already in place to make energy consumption cleaner, contributing to SDG 13 as well. Envalior's nitrous oxide reduction plant in Antwerp, Belgium, cuts approximately 450,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually, showcasing its efforts toward climate action, the company stated.
