Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Bharat Battery Show at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, reiterating the government's commitment to fostering innovation in the battery storage sector. The event organised by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) attracted over 10,000 visitors on its opening day and showcased over 100 exhibitors presenting cutting-edge advancements in battery manufacturing, charging infrastructure, and circular economy solutions.
PM Modi toured booths from key industry players such as Epsilon Advanced Materials, LICO Materials, Battrix, and Lohum, expressing interest in advancements in Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and sustainable recycling solutions. His emphasis on battery circularity and sustainability highlighted India’s ambition to position itself as a global leader in clean energy technologies.
The Bharat Battery Show has become a key platform for collaboration between government and industry, showcasing innovative developments in battery manufacturing and recycling. Companies like Lohum and Recycle Karo demonstrated advanced recycling solutions aimed at promoting a circular economy, while Vecmocon and other emerging firms presented indigenous Battery Management Systems (BMS). BMS technologies, critical for improving battery performance and integration, received heightened attention at the event, with more than five companies unveiling innovations in this area.
Amara Raja introduced its giga corridor plan, aimed at facilitating lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing by next year. Munters showcased dry room and dehumidifier solutions for battery manufacturing facilities, reflecting the increasing demand for advanced infrastructure in India’s growing battery sector.
Debi Prasad Dash, President, IESA, noted that it provides a vital platform for collaboration and growth among Indian and global stakeholders. The event's focus on ACC batteries, BESS, and recycling technologies positions India as a pivotal player in the global energy transition.
