Bengaluru-based digital transformation specialist Embitel has announced the rebranding of its CARIAD Business Unit to CARIAD India, reflecting its closer integration with CARIAD SE, the automotive software arm of the Volkswagen Group. The rebranding signifies a strengthened partnership between the two entities.

Sharad Bairathi, Managing Director of Embitel, said, “The rebranding to CARIAD India marks a significant milestone. It shows everyone how close our links with CARIAD are. The internationally renowned brand name will be a major advantage in the highly competitive Indian technology sector.”

Thomas Günther, CARIAD’s Chief Launch Officer, added, “We are welcoming our colleagues in India even closer to the team. India’s technology landscape pulsates with innovation, and working together under the CARIAD brand strengthens our joint commitment to delivering cutting-edge automotive software solutions.”

CARIAD India has been instrumental in developing key technologies, including platform software, Scalable Vehicle Compute Platform (SVCP), high-speed communication, ADAS/AD systems, energy and charging solutions, and body electronics. Its contributions range from advanced driver assistance systems to diagnostics and high-voltage energy management for electric vehicles.

Established in 2022, the ADAS/AD team focuses on behaviour software, sensor integration, and safety projects. Meanwhile, a power electronics software team is pioneering work on diagnostics, security, and energy management systems for new vehicle platforms.

The rebranding to CARIAD India does not change the ownership or legal status of Embitel Technologies, which remains a subsidiary of the diconium group under Volkswagen Group Sales IT. Instead, it underscores the company’s growing role as a key partner for CARIAD globally, solidifying its presence in India’s dynamic technology ecosystem.

This transition reinforces Volkswagen Group’s commitment to innovation and positions CARIAD India as a critical player in advancing software solutions for the next generation of automotive technologies.
