Eicher Trucks & Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has announced the production of its 50,000th fully factory-built bus from its state-of-the-art Baggad Plant in Madhya Pradesh. The milestone vehicle, an Eicher Skyline Pro E electric bus, highlights the factory's dedication to the evolving needs of India's public transport sector.

The plant serves various segments, including school, staff, route permit, intercity, and tourist transportation. It is equipped with advanced robotic paint systems and is certified for Integrated Management Systems, underscoring Eicher’s commitment to efficiency, quality, and environmental stewardship.

Eicher has implemented robust sustainability initiatives in its manufacturing operations, focusing on environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The plant utilises advanced energy management systems, including VFD-enabled panels and energy-efficient motors, to optimise energy use and reduce waste. Strategies to achieve zero waste include reducing packaging waste and safely disposing of hazardous materials. The plant operates on 42% renewable energy sources like solar and mini-hydel. It received Platinum Green Factory building certification from IGBC in 2016 and was awarded Smart Factory of the Year in 2021.

Looking ahead, Eicher Trucks and Buses is committed to advancing alternative fuel technologies such as CNG, LNG, and HCNG (hydrogen compressed natural gas), alongside its electric vehicle initiatives. The 50,000th bus, a Skyline Pro-E 9m model, embodies Eicher’s latest advancements in electric vehicle technology. Designed for urban environments, it features high-energy storage batteries and a reliable all-electric driveline, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and quiet operation. Safety and comfort features have been prioritised to enhance the passenger experience and meet stringent regulatory standards.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV, said, “VECV has consistently remained ahead of the curve with significant advancements that offer best-in-class products across segments and compliant with all regulatory norms.
