Eicher Trucks & Buses have released the non-stop series of trucks with more power and torque, and with connected features to further enhance usability. The Eicher Pro 6019XPT, Tipper, puts out 240 hp and 900 Nm; Eicher Pro 6048XP, haulage truck, produces 300 hp and 1200 Nm; Eicher Pro 6055XP and the Eicher Pro 6055XP 4x2, tractor-trucks, too generate 300 hp and 1200 Nm. The enhanced power and torque output, and better in-cabin facilities will be able to improve driver comfort while increasing safety by operating under a connected ecosystem.
Speaking to Mobility Outlook, Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VECV mentioned that the company is dedicated to its customers and wants them to improve uptime. The added power and torque output from the new series will reduce driver fatigue and also return better fuel efficiency numbers to customers. “We are also offering our cutting-edge connected vehicle architecture with these trucks as standard offering. The drivers and owners are able to get a wealth of information on the application which helps in improving performance and safety. Drivers are able to get information about their driving styles, and how to tweak it to improve fuel efficiency. Fleet owners receive diagnostic information about the vehicles, and the Eicher teams are able to guide them through upcoming problems and their quick resolutions”.
We asked him about the training aspect of the right use of these technologies. He stated, “These connected vehicle features are being offered without additional charge because we want our customers to use these services extensively. The more data we collect, the more we understand specific requirements from our customers thus enabling us to predict future solutions. And our teams are constantly training and guiding customers to better utilise these features by fleet operators and driver. The My Eicher fleet management system is an advanced system backed by Volvo, and is able to utilise AI and machine learning to its advantage”.
Another strength of Eicher is an extensive service network of more than 425 centres spread across the country. But more importantly, Eicher is able to setup support over remote sites as well to back its customers. This also includes driver training and spare parts supply so as to improve driver and vehicle uptime.
Gagandeep Singh Gandhok, Senior Vice President – HD Truck Business, VECV also mentioned about the improved driver comfort inside the cabins of these new trucks. Part from the air conditioning, the suspended seats now offer more comfort allowing drivers to be more alert. Also the connected features are able to monitor driving hours and offer prompts to the drivers urging them to take breaks, or alter driving behaviour to improve efficiency. Fleet owners are able to track their vehicles and also analyse driver stats deciding on whether more driving training is required for a particular driver.
