Ducati has unveiled a collector's limited edition Monster, paying tribute to the Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna. This exclusive edition, limited to 341 units, symbolises Senna’s three World Titles and 41 Formula 1 Grand Prix victories, celebrating his extraordinary career and enduring legacy.
The Monster Senna special edition is more than just a motorcycle; it represents the deep bond between Ducati and Ayrton Senna, a relationship that continues today through collaborations with Senna’s family and Senna Brands. Designed by Centro Stile Ducati, the special livery features colours inspired by Senna's iconic helmet—yellow, green, and blue—paying homage to the Brazilian flag.
Ayrton Senna's connection with Ducati dates back to 1990 when Claudio Castiglioni, then owner of Ducati, gifted Senna an 851 SP. Senna's fascination with Ducati's design led to the creation of the iconic Ducati 916 Senna in 1994, a project that continued posthumously with his family's support. The limited series of the 916 Senna sold out quickly and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
In 2014, the collaboration resumed with the 1199 Panigale, producing 161 units to honour the number of Grands Prix Senna raced. This new Monster Senna edition continues this legacy, further cementing the bond between Ducati and the Senna family.
The Monster Senna features a Testastretta 11° engine, producing 111 horsepower, and boasts a lightweight design at 175 kg. The motorcycle includes fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, forged wheels, a sophisticated braking system with Brembo Stylema front calipers, and top-of-the-segment electronics.
Distinctive aesthetic elements include special colouring, a yellow/green/blue tag on the black rims, yellow brake calipers, and Termignoni carbon fibre silencers. Each bike is unique, marked by a plaque on the triple clamp and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a dedicated motorcycle cover.
The Monster Senna was presented at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola during the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix. Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, Senna Brands CEO Bianca Senna, and Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali spoke at the event, underscoring the deep respect and admiration for Senna.
