Ducati has solidified its dominance in MotoGP by clinching the World Title for the third consecutive year as Jorge Martín of Pramac Racing took the championship crown at the Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona. Martín’s victory marks his first World Title in the premier class capping an extraordinary season that saw Ducati rewrite records and assert its supremacy in international motorcycle racing.
Riding the Desmosedici GP24, Martín outperformed a competitive field, with fellow Ducati riders Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, and Enea Bastianini completing an all-Ducati top four in the championship standings. This achievement underscores Ducati’s technical mastery, as the Italian manufacturer recorded 19 wins out of 20 races, a new MotoGP benchmark, and monopolised podiums in 14 races. Ducati also achieved the unprecedented feat of placing the top five riders in six Grand Prix races, a testament to the consistency and performance of the Desmosedici GP.
The 2024 MotoGP season is a continuation of Ducati’s winning streak, which began with Casey Stoner in 2007 and includes titles for Bagnaia in 2022 and 2023. Ducati remains the only non-Japanese brand to achieve such dominance in MotoGP, having now surpassed 100 victories in the championship, a milestone unmatched by any other European manufacturer.
Claudio Domenicali, CEO, Ducati, attributed the season’s success to the 'Ducati System,' a philosophy rooted in innovation and precision engineering inspired by Galileo’s scientific methods. Domenicali praised Martin’s tenacity and highlighted the contributions of other Ducati riders, including Bagnaia, whose rivalry with Martín elevated the competition to new heights. Luigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, echoed these sentiments, applauding the team’s unity and Martín’s relentless pursuit of excellence.
Ducati’s dominance extended beyond MotoGP, as it also secured titles in WorldSBK and WorldSSP with the Aruba.it Racing Team, highlighting the manufacturer’s all-encompassing racing expertise. The achievements of riders like Nicolo Bulega, Álvaro Bautista, and Adrian Huertas further solidify Ducati’s status as a leader in global motorsport.
